1. Provider and agreement
These terms apply to the Ajanta iOS app, the Ajanta.app website, and Ajanta's optional connected features. “Ajanta.app” is the trade name used for the app and website by the application provider identified as the seller in Ajanta's App Store listing; “we” and “us” refer to that provider. By using the website or connected features, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use those services.
2. App license and Apple terms
The Ajanta app is licensed, not sold. Unless a separate end-user license agreement is presented through the App Store, your license is governed by Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms supplement that agreement for Ajanta.app and connected features. The Apple agreement and any rights that cannot be waived under applicable law control if there is a conflict.
3. What Ajanta provides
Ajanta is a personal library and reading-history tool. Depending on device support and the features you choose, it can scan or photograph books, organize book and author information, track reading activity, import or export library data, retrieve third-party metadata, use on-device extraction, and synchronize data through Google Drive.
You may use Ajanta locally as a guest. Google connection is optional and is for Google Drive synchronization; Ajanta.app does not create or host a separate Ajanta account.
4. Google Drive connection
If you connect Google Drive, you authorize Ajanta to receive limited Google profile information and to create, read, update, and delete files Ajanta creates in your Drive. Sync begins automatically after connection. The files can contain your library, reading activity, notes, covers, author details, and device/sync metadata, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for the security and availability of your Google account and for any Google storage limits or provider restrictions. Signing out stops Ajanta sync but does not delete Drive files or revoke the grant. Disconnect Google revokes Ajanta's access but also leaves Drive files in place. You can delete the Ajanta_Data folder in Google Drive and empty Drive Trash; Google-controlled retention remains subject to Google's policy.
5. Your content and copies
You keep your rights in notes, images, and other content you add. You authorize Ajanta.app to process that content only as needed to perform features you request. Independent providers process requests under their own terms and policies, as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the rights to content you add and for keeping any independent copy or export you need.
Sync and export are conveniences whose availability and completeness are not guaranteed. Do not rely on Ajanta as the only copy of important information. Review exported files before sharing them because they can contain personal reading data and notes.
6. Third-party content and services
Ajanta uses independent services including Google Sign-In, Google Drive, Google Books, Open Library, Bookshop.org image hosting, Wikipedia, Wikidata, Cloudflare, Google Fonts, and Apple services. Their availability, content, and processing are controlled by their operators and subject to their own terms and policies.
Book covers, descriptions, biographies, and other third-party material remain subject to the rights of their respective owners. Ajanta does not grant you rights to reuse third-party material outside the app.
7. Accuracy and on-device extraction
Scans, metadata, summaries, biographies, links, and on-device model output can be incomplete or wrong. Review information before relying on it. Ajanta is a personal organization tool and does not provide professional, legal, medical, financial, or safety advice.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Ajanta or a connected service unlawfully or to infringe another person's rights
- Interfere with, overload, probe, or bypass the security of Ajanta.app or a connected provider
- Use automated requests in a way that violates a provider's terms or harms service availability
- Copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or derive source from the app except where the app license, open-source license, or applicable law permits it
- Misrepresent your relationship with Ajanta.app or use Ajanta branding without permission
9. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what the app stores locally, what it sends for lookups and optional sync, how long information remains, and how to delete data or revoke access. It is part of these terms for the services it covers.
10. Changes and availability
We may fix, update, add, or remove app and website features. Connected services can change or become unavailable without our control. Where practical, changes that materially reduce functionality will be described in release information or on Ajanta.app.
We may limit access to the website or connected features to address security, legal, abuse, or operational problems. This does not give Ajanta.app remote access to erase your installed local library.
11. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, Ajanta.app and connected features are provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not promise that metadata, sync, extraction, links, or third-party services will always be accurate, secure, uninterrupted, or available.
Warranty and liability terms for the licensed iOS app are also set out in Apple's Standard EULA. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty, remedy, or liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. To the extent the law permits, Ajanta.app is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss caused by use of or inability to use Ajanta or a third-party service.
12. Ending use
You can stop using Ajanta at any time. You may export your library, sign out or disconnect Google, delete Ajanta_Data from Drive and empty Drive Trash, and remove the app. Deleting the app does not automatically delete exports, device backups, or Drive files; provider-controlled retention remains subject to provider policies.
13. Applicable law
Apple's Standard EULA contains law and forum terms for the app license. Otherwise, these terms are governed by applicable law, without limiting mandatory consumer rights or protections available where you live.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when Ajanta's features, providers, or legal obligations change. The updated version and effective date will be posted here. Material changes will be highlighted in the changelog and, when appropriate, in the app. Your continued use after an update takes effect means you accept the revised terms where permitted by law.
